Merseyside & West Lancashire Bat Group

The Merseyside and West Lancashire Bat Group is a group of individuals who have an interest in all things Bat!

We have similar aims to learn and share knowledge, in addition to furthering the cause of bat conservation in its many forms, at times this might include doing bat walks, batty talks and caring for injured bats.

Please take your time to have a look around, the links above will take you to some of our main pages but there is much more information throughout the website.

A call for records!

Have you seen Water vole or American Mink in North Merseyside?

For a number of years we have been supplying records to the National Water Vole Database and Mapping project. This generally takes place on a yearly basis and the call has just come in for us to supply any new records!

If you have sighting of Water vole or American Mink which you would like to share to be used as part of this vital piece of conservation work then please send them in before October this year.

European birds at risk of extinction

Puffin (BTO)

Nature alert: Nearly one in five bird species in Europe is at risk of extinction according to the European Red List of Birds, compiled by BirdLife International and using data gathered by BTO volunteers. The list makes shocking reading, with illegal killing and land-use change among the factors thought to be driving the declines evident in many once familiar species.
